| Louise
McCartney was born on June 6, 1926 along
with her fraternal twin sister, Loretta. They were the
seventh and eighth daughters of Alice (Sharp) &
Hugh McCartney. She spent her growing up years in Cresson,
PA and lived there until she met and married Edward
Frederick in 1946. Edward grew up in Lilly, PA, three
miles from Cresson. During early married life they lived
in Cresson, State College, and West Virginia, while
Ed went to college. When he graduated in 1950 they were
the parents of two daughters and one son. Over the next
eight years they added three daughters and two sons
for a total of eight children.
During
their child-rearing years they lived in Greencastle,
PA., Rockville, MD., and moved back to Cresson in
1973. Louise and Ed moved into the McCartney homestead
in 1988. She began researching her genealogy around
1990, after retiring as a home child care provider.
Her loving husband and companion, Ed, passed away
in August of 2002 after a heroic battle with cancer.
They were happily married for 56 years. They have
eight children, eighteen grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
One of her great-grandsons, Michael Gailey, passed
away at three weeks of age in July 2001.
Louise
remains in the McCartney homestead and is continuing
her genealogical search. She is a constant source
of information on her ancestry for others in the family.
